We can not start to improve until we know who we are.

Self-knowledge is the beginning of self-improvement.

We offer several services for therapists.  Individual consultations, consultation groups, clinical trainings, individual therapy and support for interns.

Just starting your private practice?  Sublet one of offices and receive training on the steps to take in getting your practice up and running!

We enjoy being part of a collaborative therapeutic team.  When you are working with clients who's children might benefit from play therapy, or you might feel that your client would make important progress if they had a few family sessions in conjunction with the individual work you are already doing... we would welcome the opportunity of working with you as part of the clinical team.  For a case example of how this collaboration might look, read our published article "Playing With Your Clients".

If you are interested in play therapy, check out some of our other clinical articles published for play therapists.

Thinking about starting your own private practice can be overwhelming.  There are many pieces to figure out and it is often difficult to determine just where to start and the things that need to be done.  Get off to a solid start by learning some of the important points to consider, the challenges to watch out for, office forms that you will need to generate, deciding if you want to accept only private pay clients or insurance clients, and how to apply to insurance panels.

If you would like some helpful tips, some coaching and a place to brainstorm for new ideas as you start this exciting challenge, we would be happy to provide some support.

We also talk about ways to apply your in-session feelings to your client's goals for treatment.

For those with child clients, learn new play therapy techniques and develop insights by experiencing them first hand yourself.

Other topics covered are the importance of modeling specific behaviors in sessions and setting consistent compassionate boundaries in sessions with child and adult clients.

Trainings Offered:

"Using Projective Drawings & Workbooks in Play Therapy"
- Does the child feel comfortable drawing scenes that have emotion in them or do they prefer to draw more cautions illustrations that have no story?

- Does the child's vulnerable feelings seem tolerable for them or do you need to pace things more slowly?

- What techniques might you use when a child hesitates to draw?
- Pick up a few new ideas to use when the child is too angry to draw.

- Ways to invite the child to make their own projective storybooks.
- Take a look at some examples of how children can use therapeutic workbooks to process difficult feelings.

- Then discuss ways you might apply these concepts to one of your cases.

Individual Therapy for Clinicians  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Its so important for professional listeners to be listened to as well!
Keep track of the potential for compassion fatigue setting in by revitalizing a bit and attend to your own personal and professional needs.  Plus it always helps to actually do some of the things we encourage our clients to do.

Interns . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
For interns, receiving your own individual therapy helps on multiple levels.  Process the many transitions and feelings associated with becoming a therapist.  Plus it adds a valuable extra 300 contact hours toward the process of obtaining your license.  Form a deeper understanding of the many challenges and hesitations that some of your clients might have by sitting in their chair for awhile.

Some of our play therapy trainings might be of interest to you since many agencies require that you work with child clients.  These trainings, as well as our consultation groups, help fill in a few of the missing pieces regarding play therapy techniques and theory so you can use these new skills in working with families and children.  Another benefit of our group or individual consultations is that they allow more time for in-depth discussions than supervision usually allows.

Note: The use of this web site or email link does not
in any way imply a patient-therapist relationship.
